Preparing For Your PADI Scuba Diving Course

Scuba diving courses have three important components, dive theory (e-Learning), skills training (often in confined water) plus practical assessments in the open water.

Beginner courses typically have more focus on basic dive theory and confined water training sessions. Then once you are ready and have mastered your core skills you will progress to the open water and continue your training.

Here at Cornish Diving when you book a course with us you will first receive a confirmation email, plus an email directly from PADI containing your E-Learning course*. Once you arrive at our centre we have a small amount of paperwork to complete and then your scuba diving course can begin.

We have an onsite heated pool at our dive centre, where any confined water training will be completed. All of your diving equipment is included in the price of the course, so all you will need to bring is a swimsuit and towel. We have plenty of equipment available for hire and a selection of equipment in our shop if you would prefer to buy any items for your course. We always recommend investing in your own mask, snorkel and fins if you have enjoyed your course and wish to continue your diving journey!

When we head out to the Open Water the process is simple, you arrive at the dive centre, our team will help you to try on and assemble a full set of diving equipment. We then load all of the equipment we need into our van and head to the dive site! We have local dive sites in Falmouth, and regularly dive at Silver Steps or Swanpool Beach, but if the weather is causing a problem we also have access to an inland site a short drive away.

Once your dives are completed and you have mastered the skills, congratulations! You have passed your course and will be certified by your instructor, keep an eye out for your E-Card which you will receive via an email from PADI. Once qualified you have lots of options, explore the ocean with guided dives or continue your education with another PADI course!

*There are some exceptions, not all of the courses we offer have E-Learning.
